MAUD BLANDEL FEAT. MAYA MASSE & ENSEMBLE CONTRECHAMPS (CH/FR)
Diverti Menti
Dance | Specials | Adults
Working with dancer Maya Masse and three soloists from the renowned Geneva ensemble “Contrechamps”, the Swiss choreographer Maud Blandel has fashioned a new artwork out of Mozart’s Divertimento K.136. She has created an interpretation for the human body to enact and set it against a new instrumentation. By combining the wonderfully free, polyphonic playing of the piano, tuba and electric guitar with variations in rhythm and tempo and the dancer’s performance, she brings out the modern, expressive nature of a work which is now almost two hundred and fifty years old. This not only makes the piece contemporary; it places it in its own space, totally independent of time. This is a dance which delights eyes and ears alike: a rarely-found synaesthetic pleasure.
