LIEBER SAXOPHON FRANÇAIS

France, in composition and improvisation | Curated by Gerald Preinfalk

Chamber music | Jazz | New music | Concert | Adults

Jazz helped the saxophone to make a breakthrough. Its use in classical music continued into the 1930s. Thanks to composing commissions, early top-flight players such as the Frenchman Marcel Mule, the first “super-virtuoso” of the saxophone, helped the instrument invented by Adolphe Sax to establish itself in the world of classical music as well. After paying his respects to the saxophone in classical music, Gerald Preinfalk turns his attention back to the present day and a more jazz-infused sound. Together with the other members of his new ensemble “Trismo” – Klaus Paier and Asja Valcic – he presents their new CD “Fractal Beauty”, which is composed entirely of original compositions.
