THE CONCERT IN THE NEW YEAR

“None of us is getting any younger, or any better-looking” remarked Andreas Vitasek once, commenting on the passage of time. Now, along with Camerata Schulz, he invites us to come down to MuTh after the Old Year has passed and enjoy our traditional Concert in the New Year. Vitasek reads from his literary self-portrait, a book entitled “Ich bin der Andere” (I am the Other). Works by Johann Strauss and friends provide a fitting musical companion to tales of the highs, the lows, and the adventures of this great Austrian cabaret artist’s life. Vitasek talks about himself “and those others, who are hiding somewhere within each of us”. His words are sharply observed, comic, moving, and reflective. The concert also includes a couple of musical surprises, featuring Old Vienna and a bit of violin fun. It doesn’t get any better than this!
