EINE SEHR UNGEWÖHNLICHE G‘SCHICHT (A MOST UNUSUAL STORY)

Vienna premiere. After its first performance in August 2022, in Haydn’s own Lower Austria, this evening marks the Vienna premiere of the new Erlkings programme. Inspired by Haydn’s Lied “Eine sehr gewöhnliche Geschichte” (A very common story), for the first time THE ERLKINGS include several Lieder by Joseph Haydn alongside their more familiar material of Lieder by Franz Schubert. Translated into modern English, and arranged for a highly unusual ensemble comprising voice, guitar, cello, tuba, drums and vibraphone, Haydn’s Lieder sound like they never have before.
