ENSEMBLE ULTREIA: ENCOUNTERS
From individuality to unity
Chamber music | Orchestral music | Concert | Adults
From solo pieces to chamber music — with elements of improvisation en route — Ensemble Ultreia are building their reputation one step at a time. This carefully choreographed performance also incorporates projections of music-themed quotations and other materials. The programme features some rarely-heard works, including a movement from the nonet by the composer Louise Farrenc (1804-1875), as well as one of Florence Price’s five ”Negro Folksongs in Counterpoint”. These two composers embody gender equality and diversity; and this performance of their works demonstrates how a few individuals can become a great, co-operative entity.
